What Was I Thinking?

Wordpress uses the TinyMCE DHTML / javascript based HTML editor. If you think using an HTML document to edit other HTML documents is crazy then your probably right and it was all a bad dream.

Nonetheless what's done is done, it works, you can edit raw HTML if you feel like it. Not bad... Not perfect, but not bad.

This plugin is designed to add some functionality to the standard editor. I'm not going to list the functions here, you'll just have to install it.

Installation?

So far I think this plugin is compatible with Wordpress 2.0.4 and above. It was tested on 2.1Alpha, so if it doesn't work for you, I'm really sorry!

Take the whole superedit folder and put it in the wp-content/plugins/ directory of your Web site. 

Activate the plugin on the plugin administration panel, then go to the options panel and you will see the Super Edit tab in the third darkest blue row.

It's a simple interface for now. You can only turn stuff on and off. 

IMPORTANT: YOU MAY NEED TO EMPTY YOUR BROWSER CACHE AFTER ANY OPTION CHANGE

TinyMCE uses compressed javascript scattered in several include files. These files seem to be cached differently than regular HTML, so your temporary files or cache files will need to be deleted before any of the new options will be visible.

That's it. I put some notes in notes.txt too for the brave.

The WP Super Edit plugin is released under the GNU General Public License. More information is available in the superedit.php file

TinyMCE is published under the Library General Public License and Wordpress is published under the GNU General Public License.

This was all inspired from of work from other Authors. I have credited them in the main superedit.php file. The plugins come from TinyMCE and have been modified very slightly for use with wordpress you should note that Moxiecode Systems are the original copyright holders of that source code.
